Outline of the Course
This very hands-on 8 class series will help you become a master of colour in your paintings - by developing many different small colour studies - all based on the Colour Wheel and recognised harmonious Colour Plans used by artists for centuries.
Each online class of two and a half hours will include short tuition, followed by a number of 'Watch Me And Copy' small colour studies that will build up over the weeks to give you a comprehensive set of reference paintings to assist you in all your future paintings.

Topics we will cover and practice with colour studies include

• Explanation of Colour Terms - Tone, Hue, Brightness, Tints, Shades, Neutrals, Warm and Cool, etc
• Theory and practice of the triadic Colour Wheel
• Warm and Cool Colour Wheels
• Mixing Paint to obtain an accurate Colour Note
• Limited Colour Palettes
• The Munsell Colour System
• The Emotional impact of Colour
• Colour through the Seasons and through the Daytime
• Colour Harmony Plans including Monochromatic, Analogous, Complementary, Double Complementary, Primary, Secondary, etc

All of these topics will be illustrated through demonstrations and student exercises as you paint along with John as he develops a series of up to four small studies each class.
