ABOUT THIS THREE DAY WORKSHOP
A very popular workshop, where you will bring 4 or 5 of your own unfinished paintings and John will suggest how he would Finish them – and then YOU will practice all his tips and techniques to give them a whole new level of Pzazz! 
Issues covered include – overall composition, tonal design, colour harmony, placing focal points, creating maximum interest, the importance, type and placement of edges, creating movement around your painting, the various ‘opposites’ that transform a painting, and how to create harmony and unity in your finished work.
This workshop is most suitable for painters with some experience, although all levels will find it accessible. Student paintings in any media are welcome, but demonstrations will be in oils or acrylics.
A very comprehensive 3 days with lots of insights and tips to bring your paintings to a great finish! You'll leave with better pictures.

​John Dinan is a professional artist who has been teaching art for over 20 years, in Ireland, France and Italy. He is an exhibiting artist in many of Ireland’s leading galleries in both the Republic and the north of Ireland. He has exhibited in RHA, Oireachtas and many solo and group exhibitions. He is a member of the Dublin Painting & Sketching Club, and of the Back Lane Painters, and is a founder member of the Portmarnock Art Group.
John  loves teaching and his workshops are informal, friendly, with full of learning, aimed at giving participants of every level an encouraging, and really enjoyable experience with the newly acquired insights to radically improve all their future paintings. His workshops always receive great feedback for the extensive tuition, complete sharing of experience and insights, helpful one-to-one advice and the encouraging atmosphere he maintains in his classes.
His landscapes, portraits and still lifes are held internationally in corporate and private collections.
He especially loves painting en plein air, and has run outdoor workshops and been a prize-winner at the international Art in the Open festival in Wexford. He paints in a varied range of styles, but his w​ork ​is usually recognised through good drawing, strong compositions and bright colours.  He lives in south Mayo, near the village of Cong.
