This 3 Day workshop is for artists of every level - including beginners - who would enjoy having the basic skills in both drawing and watercolour so they can enjoy the pleasure that landscape watercolour sketching offers. You can make lovely, lively coloured sketches either outdoors or from your car without lots of heavy, cumbersome art gear and even use these sketches as reference for future paintings done in your home or studio.

COLOUR SKETCHING - often called Line & Wash or Pen & Wash - is a quick and easy way to capture sparkling coloured paintings using simple drawing techniques and basic watercolour washes.
Artists of any experience - from Beginner to Experienced - can enjoy this style of drawing/painting by learning my approach in this

AND - there's no need for expensive easels, or elaborate sets of materials to hawk around outdoors - the things you need for Colour Sketching are pretty simple and relatively inexpensive compared to oil or acrylic painting.
So it's an ideal way to start painting, and you can set up at home, outdoors or in the car - because you don't need much room or have to carry heavy, cumbersome equipment aroung.
Here are a few examples of mine that illustrate the possibilities of Colour Sketching - sometimes using pencil, other times using permanent markers/pens with simple watercolour washes over the drawings.

The above are examples of Landscape sketches using watercolours. Firstly I draw the outline of the scene using some type of drawing tool - a pencil, pen or marker. Then I build up the colours using transparent watercolours.
The first two images below show the initial outline drawing of a simple subject, and the finished Coloured Sketch.
The third image is of a Colour Sketch done in Italy, using quality watercolour paper and permanent ink drawing pen.
